In celebration of its fiftieth anniversary, the Bustamante & Bustamante Law has resolved to resume the issuance of legal reports submitted previously to its clients and colleagues.These reports will be delivered on a quarterly basis.

Decisions repeated three times in rulings by the Supreme Court of Justice establish that the notarial requirement of the Notarial Law is valid for declaring in default a natural or juridical person who has breached their contractual obligations.The notary procedure is not jurisdictional and, therefore, is merely an expression of the will to fulfill an obligation by the natural or juridical person requiring it and a demand by the other party for its performance.If desired that a natural or juridical person be declared in default, the process must take place before a competent judge since such a declaration is an eminently jurisdictional procedure and notaries are devoid of jurisdiction.
